WCB-007:

Gentleman's Bowie

This is a great, more traditional bowie design. Similar to the design of the commemorative Sheriff's bowie I made, this knife is just a little bit smaller overall. For the more sophisticated gentleman who does not require an enormous knife to get his point across! The blade is only 6 inches long with an overall length of 11 inches. The request was for more of an heirloom piece, primarily for display...though this is a very functional knife should it ever need to be used! The owner's initials were engraved into the spine of the knife and accented with some decorative file work. The hand stitched and tooled leather sheath also bears the initials of the owner. A stout blade of 5160 carbon steel is beautifully matched with a vibrant cocobolo handle. This is probably one of my favorite handle materials...even if the dust it produces is rather toxic. Extra care may be needed to work with this wood, but the results well make up for it! The handle has been nicely contoured for a comfortable feel in the hand. The balance point is just barely above the guard, giving great overall control of the knife. The reds and oranges of the handle have been accented by a brass ferrell and guard.

While this knife was a special commission and has been sold, I can produce another similar to it if it interests you!
