WCB-035:

Ares

Named for the Greek God of War, the Ares was a special commission piece designed as a smaller version of the Summiter III. Lopping off over an inch of blade length from its larger counterpart, the Ares is a much more practical close-quarters weapon, yet still maintains its tool functionality. The handle utilizes a very simple, yet practical and effective 550 para chord wrapping. The ergonomic design lets you comfortably choke up tight on the blade for precission applications or grip it back further for chopping or fighting. The exagerated thumb ramp allows for a comfortable and controlled full forward extension and the flared pomel provides an excellent thumb and index-finger seat in a reverse grip. The scale from forging the blade was left along the top side and I used my popular 'mustard' finish to provide added corrosion resistance and a rustic look. The end of the handle can be used as a pry-bar, large, flat-head screwdriver, or just a solid pommel for hammering. The sheath is primarily worn as a back-draw, but is identicle on the front and back, allowing for a variety of carry positions that can easily be shifted around to accomodate different gear configurations. As always, my sheaths are hand-stitched and sealed for water resistance.
