Diablo           Pictures: Kain Guercci   WCB-036: Diablo This knife was a design collaboration with Kain Guercci of Talon Executive Services. Kain came to me looking for a fighting knife that was both functional and ergonomically sound based on his personal experience in the field. He felt that most 'fighting' knives produced today in both the production and custom markets were simply lacking in those two areas. Together we started putting the design together for the 'Diablo'. With a shortened handle, the primary grip of the knife puts more blade and more control into the operator's hand, while still offering a comfortable reverse grip. The groves along the spine ensure excellent precision control and the 1911-style grooves along the upper flat of the blade offer solid grip for the thumb and forefinger. The bolsters are 303 stainless steel and are ergonomically shaped in a style similar to the Shun Ken Onion series cooking knives. The bolsters extend down past the blade to form a 'Double Horn Guard'. The upper spine design stems from my Summitter III and Ares designs to fit comfortably into the palm in a variety of grip positions. I did a mustard finish on the blade to not only be aesthetically pleasing, but to add a protective coating over the 5160 carbon steel against minor corrosion. I can make the leather sheaths for a variety of carry positions and currently have a design in the works to be compatible with a Pals rig. It is both Kain and my hopes that these knives will fill a much needed void and protect PSS operators and soldiers around the world. Thanks to Kain for the amazing pictures!
